Markus “Notch” Persson heeft zijn zorgen geuit over de koers die Microsoft lijkt te zijn ingeslagen met hun nieuwste Windows versie.

In een interview met de Reddit community stelde iemand de vraag “What kind of future do you see for the (indie) gaming industry? What’s going to change during, say, the next 10 years?”, waarop Notch antwoordde:

“I hope we can keep a lot of open and free platforms around. If Microsoft decides to lock down Windows 8, it would be very very bad for Indie games and competition in general. If we can keep open platforms around, there’s going to be a lot of very interesting games in ten years, mixed in with the huge AAA games that we all love.”

Hij voegt zich met zijn zorgen bij grote namen uit de industrie zoals Gabe Newell van Valve, die eerder zei : Windows 8 is “kind of a catastrophe for everybody in the PC space”. Rob Pardo van Blizzard plaatste daarop een Tweet met de mededeling : Windows 8 “is not awesome for Blizzard either.”

Hoewel niemand precies weet hoe Windows 8 in elkaar zal steken lijkt iedereen ervan overtuigd dat deze nieuwste versie van Microsoft’s OS de meest gesloten versie tot nu toe zal zijn.
